The use of praise is one of the most powerful behavioral family therapy techniques because it helps to increase appropriate, prosocial behavior. As such, you can use praise to increase most classroom behaviors. ” Most praises that adults give to one another are unlabeled praises. “Good,” “nice job,” and “thanks” are all examples of unlabeled praises that instructors may give to students. Labeled praises, however, are more specific praises that tell the student exactly what you like about his or her behavior.

Of course, one could argue that the middle ground between continuous and discontinuous development is the best way to conceptualize development (Feldman, 2006).
